‘The early bird catches the worm’ which parents often use to teach their children who are not full of talent, is a famous proverb especially in China. For instance, when I was younger, I was not good at math because I was not able to study it well, in other words meant I was a little bit stupid. Consequently, I often did a bad job in the math exams even if it is really necessary to me. However, my mother told me if you want to study it well and to be standing out, you must do as ‘the early bird catches the worm’ which means if people do something not as good as others, they should do more preview and review, practice more and train harder. Owing to my mother’s motivation, I did well in the graduation test which caused me to study in my dream high school.
50 years ago, China was just a hunk of ‘meat’ which other countries around the world wanted to occpy. However, nowadays ‘China was mentioned 12 times in the first presidential debate’ which was a news title from the BBC. It seems that in recent years all the world starts paying significant attention to China because China has already strengthened in many aspects, especially in education, environment and technology. Education which is the key evidence to check if the country has developed, changed a lot since 50 years ago. Firstly, the average years of education now is much higher than 50 years ago. My grandparents often told me that I am so lucky because when my parents were at my age, they had already run their business for a long time. According to the resource about the education in China, [1]‘Almost 50 years ago when the new country was built, the proportion of the illiterate and half-illiterate were nearly 80 percent and the people who could go to study was just 4.76 percent of the whole population’. Some people do not believe in that at all. However, that is 100 percent right because at that time China just focused on rebuilding the economy instead of the education. Yet now, people, who did not have the education in the past pay all the attention on their children’s education. Even some parents use their life saving to invest in their children’s education because they believe that study is the only way to be successful in the future. However, in the past it was impossible and unbelievable. More interesting is that my mother told me that some girls in the past would not have the opportunity to go to school, but all the boys could go to school to study. So the second point I will discuss is the average years of education for women. [2]‘Women and crooks are unteachable’ ‘Following that belief, another infamous statement illustrates this viewpoint: ‘A girl without intelligence and talent is one of integrity’. Those two statements were excerpted from two famous Chinese educators. According to their opinions, it is easy to see that in the past the girls who had no education were much better than those who had education. In addition, the parents in the past especially my grandparent’s generation had the deep-rooted feudal ideology which believed that the boys needed more education than the girls because “A married daughter is just like water that has been poured” which is a common saying, describing the girls who would get married in the future and after that the girls would have no more relationship with their family. That is also the vital reason why the women had the low average years of education. However, compared with the education of women 50 years ago, the education for women has been transformed. Nowadays, every girl can go to school, even finish their university study. The facilities are also the essential part of the education. However, the facilities 50 years ago were so horrible. The teachers, the key educational facility, were so awful. According to research, [3]“the teachers 50 years who had the a bachelor degree had less experience of teaching the students. Even if they would teach the students in the village, they would not stay there for a long time until they found a better job in the town and then they would leave because of the high salary.” Furthermore, the teaching equipment was also terrible in 1970s. [4]‘50 years ago, the facilities were obsolete which limited the teacher’s teaching and also affected the quality of teaching.’ For example, the students just sat on the wood chairs and tables which almost broke 50 years ago, but now the students study at metal desks and chairs which are firm. [5](the chart is on the bottom)The chart described that from 1949 to 1994 the development of the teaching facility in Lishu country. Unlike the education, the environment nowadays is much worse than 50 years ago. There is a stark contrast between education and environment because the environment is getting worse, yet the education becomes much better and better. To begin with the development about the vegetation coverage in China. Based on a study [6]‘Compard 2002 with 1986, medium high coverage and high coverage percentages decreased. The medium high vegetation coverage area reduced from 5720.2 hm2 to 4516.0 hm2, the high vegetation coverage area reduced from 6290.9 hm2 to 5567.5 hm2’. However, while I was searching on the internet about the decrease of vegetation coverage about 50 years ago, I did not find anything which shows the environment in China had some serious problems which need to be solved at that time. Moreover, the pollution in China becomes the popular leisure-time topic for Chinese. According to a study [7]‘PM2.5 levels (indicating air particles smaller than 2.5mm in diameter) in Beijing 2009–2013 were on average 135 63 mg m-3 , with a maximum of 355 mg m-3, which is over 13 times the World Health Organization’s recommended standard for annual averages (10mgm-3 ) (WHO 2006) and 4 times over the Chinese annual average air quality limit (35mgm-3)’. It is clear to see that the environment gets worse so dramatically. Thanks to the awful environment, the Chinese’s awareness of protecting the environment is getting better. 50 years ago, Chinese had a wonderful environment, but people overdeveloped the economy. For instance, [8]in 2007 China cut 11million trees in order to make the textbooks for students. Moreover, according to a study, every year China makes the average number of 45 billion pairs of chopsticks for the restaurant and export trade. Consenquently, people could not confront the flood and the debris flow. Consequently, the environment got worse from 50 years ago to now. But now, the awareness of protecting the environment has become much better than 50 years ago. The Chinese government uses plenty of ways to enhance the awareness of protecting the environment. [9]‘The issue about environmental education in Chinese schools was first raised in 1979…became China's basic state policy…Elementary and middle schools began to emphasize local issues, such as pollution and ecological...’ It illustrates that the awareness of protecting the environment has been refined. After strengthening the awareness, the Chinese government has developed some solutions about making people realize how it is important to protect the environment. For instance, creating some new course about protecting the environment. [10]‘China’s collaborative endeavor to popularize environmental protection knowledge nationwide has been gradually raising people’s environmental consciousness. The government has gradually increased the attention paid to environmental issues as manifested in the number of policy documents’. Sony, one of the most famous technological companies said that the technology is changing people’ s life. I cannot agree anymore with that. More important is that I reckon that technology has already changed Chinese’s daily life so much. First of all, the communication has been changed dramatically. In recent years, “Smartphone addiction” which means people are too crazy about playing with their cellphone ; it is so popular in the world especially in China. For inexample, [11] the average time for playing cellphone is 109 mintues per day which occupies 60.0% of the entire time abou using the cellphone. However, technology is a double-edged sword. When we are concerning about drawbacks brought by technology, we should care more about the convenience which the technology brings which really makes life easier. For example, the receptivity about high technology communication for the old is getting much better. According to the chart, [12] (the chart is on the bottom) it is obvious to see that the number of old users on the internet had a massive change in China especially in 2008. In addition, the way of Chinese contracts has already overhauled. [13]‘In rural areas, 67 percent of the administrative villages now have telephones. China has 102,000 post offices nationwide…All large and medium-sized cities provide international express mail service, and have developed international automatic telex, data transmission, express fax, and TV program transmission services. Besides, various services via the Internet, including e-mail and e-commerce, are now available’. According to a study, the change of the way in communication in China is massive. There was a huge number of new communication technology appearing from 50 years ago to now which is the reason why I said the way of the communication transformed. For instance, [14] ‘The most sought-after categories online are apparel, home décor, books and media products, and cosmetics and accessories. Many online shoppers rely on the search engine provided by the online store (44%) or the store's home page (14%) to navigate through their product search.’ Taobao earned the highest ratings for its search function, followed by Joyo Amazon.’ It is clear to see that more and more Chinese are willing to shop on the internet instead of going to the store. The transportation also transformed from 50 years to now. 10 years ago, the first time I went back to my hometown. The road there was just mess especially on the rainy day. If rained, the road would be muddy and slippery which was so hard for the cars to go through there. However, everything has changed. The highway which not only shortened the time, but also made it easy for cars to through there. [15]‘In an effort to spread wealth beyond China's big cities, China's central government has promoted the construction of more than 30,000 miles of expressways in the past decade’. According to the resource, the highway has been built a lot which makes people’s daily life much easier and more convenient. The transportation will bring the huge influence to the way they travel. 50 years ago, the people’s trip model changed a lot because of the technology. [16]‘Bikes were considered "posh" between the 1950s and 70s. For people of the day, bikes, along with watches, sewing machines and radios, were the four prerequisites for qualified marriages. It seemed that the "two-wheel dream" was the dream of a generation’. “Two-wheel dream” was just a dream at that time, yet now people can drive “four wheels’ car”, take the train even take the airplane to go someplace which not only shrink the time which spend on the road, but also make the travel more convenient. For instance, [17] by the end of 2008, the total mileage of the national transportation lines reached 6.3945 million km, which was 4.62 times more that of 1985. The civil aviation navigation mileage was 2,481,600 km which was 8.88 times more than that of 1985. The number of airports doubled. The number of tourist in 2008 was 185.04 million more than that in1985. The average annual growth rate was 14.50%. That is the big achievement which the technology makes. Compared with life 50 years ago and now, life really has changed a lot. However, not all of the changes are beneficial for China. Therefore, we still need to improve our country in many aspects. This picture happened in the recent Iraq war. There were two boys hiding in the car so that they could not be killed by the American soldiers. The boy who wore the plaid shirt and the jean sitting inside the car was crying because he realized that his parents had been killed by the American soldiers during the war. Before the war, they had already bought something from the shopping mall and decided to go back home. However, the war suddenly occurred. Their parents had concealed those two boys in the car before they fought with the American soldiers. If the Iraq war had not happened, the Iraqi were not died. If they had not bought the stuff in the shopping mall, the parents were not died. If they were not living in Iraq, their parents would have survived. If the boys did not hide in the car, they would be killed as well.
There is no difference between people and fish if people do not have dream. There are 3 items in my bucket list which are bungee jumping, travel to the south pole and travel to the space.
Bungee jumping is one of the most exciting sports in the world. Also, it is the riskiest sport. Last year, my best friend proposed to his girlfriend while they were doing the bungee jumping. That was so romantic and all the people who saw the propose felt deeply moved. However, I don’t have enough encourage to do that no because of the feeling of weightlessness. Due to that feeling, I felt super uncomfortable. The second one is travel to the South Pole. It is common knowledge that there are a lot of penguins which is my favorite animals. Yet, the most vital reason for me to travel there is that I can see polar light in the South Pole which is the most wonderful view in the world. The first time I saw those was on the internet and I thought that place which could see the polar light must be the nearest place to the space. More important, the view was so fantastic. The polar light, which was not just stay there, kept moving and like mother was waving to you with plenty of stars and bright moon. The last but not the least. I do want to travel to the space. Space, the mother of the earth, is so mysterious. Recently years, more and more scientist started to study the space. Due to massive space, they found nothing even if they sent a lot of rockets to these. More important, I really enjoy the views about the space. All my wallpapers are related to the space. The most beautiful picture was consisted by the billions of the stars, the big bright moon and some unknown plants. With the different sunshine, the color of the galaxy would become various colors. For example, most of the time, the earth is blue. However, sometime when the earth close to the sun, it would be the red which seems burned by the sun. ![]() “Do you know the China has left more than 600 million people out of property from 1949 to now, and do you know that China now is the second largest economy in the world from a very low foundation?” Those words said by China's Foreign Minister -- Wang, Yi on the press conference during he visited the Canada two months ago. So it is obvious to see that life in my country now have massive difference from the life in my country 50 years ago in education, environment and technology. “If Trump and Clinton both fall into the river, who will be saved?” The answer is America. This joke shows me that Trump and Clinton really have different opinions in many aspects like the U.S education and immigration. Furthermore, it also describes both of them will change America a lot, no matter who will be the next president.
To begin with the education, they talked about. Clinton and Trump differ in whether the university students should pay the tuition-fee or not. According to Clinton in 2016 Hillary for America, ‘Students should never have to borrow to pay for tuition, books, and fees to attend a four-year public college in their state under the New College Compact.’ She suggests that the federal government should cancel the tuition-fee for the university students, if they attend a four-year public college in their state. However, Trump thinks it is impossible. As Trump notes in “Fox News Insider”, ‘Well, there's no such thing as free education…is going to be paying for that education.’ In Trump’s opinion, he believes that education should not be free because if the students do not pay, the government will pay for it. In addition, they also share the distinct ideas about the growth of charter school. As Clinton observes in “School Matter”,‘Charter schools are not better than public schools—and in many cases they are far worse.’ Clinton reckons that the growth of charter school will not bring some benefits for the U.S education. Unlike Clinton, Trump considers the growth of charter school will make much advantages for the U.S education. According to Donald Trump in “Trump Outlines Bold New Plan for School Choice.” posted on Sep. 8, 2016. ‘Charter schools, in particular, have demonstrated amazing gains and results in providing education to disadvantaged children and the success of these schools will be a top priority for my Administration.’ Trump expresses that the charter school bring huge benefits for U.S education especially for the poor family Another comparison between Trump and Clinton demonstrates big differences about immigration. On one hand, “Should Undocumented Immigrants in the United States Be Allowed to Become Legal Residents?” According to what Hillary Clinton mentioned in “America Needs Comprehensive Immigration Reform with a Pathway to Citizenship” which was posted in Sep. 25, 2015 ‘The American people support comprehensive immigration reform--not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it strengthens families, our economy, and our country.’ From Clinton’s illustration, it is easy to find that she reckons that the undocumented immigrants is legal, because those immigrants who do not have documents also make contribution to the U.S. Yet Trump has different ideas. Los Angeles Times staff noted that ‘You cannot obtain legal status or become a citizen of the United States by illegally entering our country.’ which was posted in Sep. 1, 2016. Trump shows his clear opinion about the immigration rules which is that although people enter the U.S by illegal ways, they can be the citizens of the U.S. On the other hand, another difference between Clinton and Trump is the interviews about that should the Federal Government Use Raids to Enforce Immigration Laws? Dan Merica noted that “Our immigration enforcement efforts should be humane and conducted in accordance with due process, and that is why I believe we must stop the raids happening in immigrant communities…”in ‘Clinton Calls for Ending DHS Raids against Central American Families’ which was posted in Jan. 11 2016. It is clear to see that Clinton does not support to use raids to enforce the immigration laws because she describes that they should use humane ways to carry out the laws. However, Trump objects her advice. According to Donald J. Trump’s twitter post on Dec.24 2015 “because of the pressure put on by me, ICE [US Immigration and Customs Enforcement] TO LAUNCH LARGE SCALE DEPORTATION RAIDS.” , an approving response to the issue. “The young artist misses half the world who paints nothing but beautiful things” which was the best sentence to describe my best painter called Xu who was really stun born. In his opinion, the world was wonderful. However, it was not. He was crazy about painting the picture in some wonderful way to describe the thing or stuff which make those things look so fantastic. For instance, one of the most famous picture painted by him called family was exhibited in the painting museum in my hometown. He drawn all the family members in a cozy way, yet his family was not so prefect like imagining. His father was a guy who often did the family violent to his mother or his brother, but people could see any bad things about his father through this painting. So some reporter often asked some
